2.4.1 : Air-Cooled PMC Installation and Removal
To install an air-cooled PMC module, proceed with the following steps:
1. Attach an ESD wrist strap to your wrist and securely attach the other end to chassis ground.
2. Turn the system power off and disconnect the AC plug from the system.
3. Carefully remove the VP3500 from the VPX chassis and place it on a cushioned, flat surface. An
ESD pad is the ideal option.
4. Remove the PMC filler plate from the VP3500 front panel.
5. Install the PMC’s front panel O-ring gasket, if it is not already installed.
6. Carefully slide the PMC module faceplate-side into the VP3500 front panel PMC opening.
7. Align the PMC connectors on the module with the connectors on the VP3500 and, carefully, but
firmly, press down until the connectors make a clean and solid connection.
8. Turn the VP3500 over and insert the four mounting screws that are provided with the PMC through
the holes on the bottom side of the VP3500 into the PMC front bezel and rear standoffs. Tighten
the screws.
9. Reinstall the VP3500 into the VPX backplane from which it was removed.
10. Replace the system AC power cord and power up the system.
For removal of the PMC card, follow the above mechanical steps in reverse.
