MM PWB
Audio Output
The audio output of the MM PWB is available when audio output is needed at
the time of motion picture playback.
The 24MHz clock signal from the quartz crystal oscillator (X9601) is generated
and sent to the Main PWB via the POMM2 (70-pin connector). This 24MHz clock
signal input is entered the audio DAC (IC1502) of the Main PWB. The audio
DAC (IC1502) generates an output of BCLK (Bit Clock) and WCLK (Word
Clock)based on the 24MHz clock signal input. This signal passes through the
POMM2 (70-pin connector) and is delivered to the CPU (IC9201). The CPU
(IC9201) generates an audio data output synchronized with BCLK (Bit Clock)
and WCLK (Word Clock) and this output is sent to the audio DAC (IC1502) of the
Main PWB. The audio signal converted from digital to analog by the audio DAC
(IC1502) is put in the audio processor IC.
By the way, the signal levels of 24MHz clock, BCLK (Bit Clock), WCLK (Word
Clock), and audio data are different between the MM PWB and Main PWB sides.
Therefore, processing for level conversion is carried out in IC9003, IC9004, and
IC9007. These IC9003, IC9004, and IC9007 are controlled by the BUF_EN
signal (enable signal).
