VI. MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
WARNING
- Before cleaning, the inspecting or repairing the unit, make sure that engine has
stopped and has cooled down.
Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting.
Reminder: Make sure to maintain the machine in good working condition, carry out regular
maintenance of the machine after each use and before storage.
Any breach or default of adequate maintenance reduces the life of the machine and increases the risk
of breakdowns and accidents.
To preserve the security system throughout the life of the machine, it is important to perform
maintenance and proper cleaning, DO NOT use non-compliant replacement parts and do NOT
dismantle yourself the machine or change the security features.
6.1- Air filter
Loosen the knob and remove the air filter cover.
Take off the filter elements and tap them against a hard surface to remove dust and debris.
To clean dirt in the mesh or when the elements are extremely dirty, shake wash with gasoline.
Dry them completely before reinstalling.
Note: Replace air filter if frayed, torn, damaged or unable to be cleaned
6.2- Fuel filter
Remove the fuel tank cap (18).
Using a wire hook, take out the filter from the filler port.
Disassemble the filter and wash with gasoline, or replace with new one if clogged with dirt
completely (or if needed).
Notes:
When returning the filter, use a long nose plier to avoid folding the suction pipe.
When assembling the filter, take care not to allow filter fibers or dust inside the suction pipe.
6.3- Adjusting the carburetor
The carburetor on your unit has been factory adjusted, and should not require any intervention.
However, should any adjustment be required, contact your local reseller.
6.4- Spark plug
Clean the electrodes with a wire brush and reset the gap to 0.635 mm (0.25”) as
necessary.
6.5- Others
Check for fuel leakage and loose fastenings and damage to major parts.
If any defects are found, make sure to have them repaired before operating the machine again.
6.6- Air cooling air
WARNING
- The engine metal parts can burn your skin. Never touch the cylinder, muffler or
ignition plug etc. during operation or right after stopping the engine.
- Before starting the engine, check around the muffler and take off sawdust.
If you do not, it will cause the overheating and a fire.
For preventing the trouble, please keep clean around the muffler.
This engine is air-cooled. Dust clogging between the inlet port of the cooling air and cylinder fins
will cause overheating of the engine. Periodically check and clean the cylinder fins after removing
the air cleaner and the cylinder cover.
