OPERATING FAULTS
The following advice will enable you to carry out quick, temporary repairs. For safety reasons you should always contact
a RENAULT Dealer as soon as possible.
When the starter is activated
There is no response, the indicator
lights fail to light up and the starter
does not turn.
Indicator lights go dim and starter
turns very slowly.
The engine is difficult to start in damp
weather or after washing.
The engine is difficult to start when
warm.
CAUSES
Battery lead disconnected or contacts
and terminals oxidised
Battery discharged
Battery unserviceable
Battery terminals not properly
tightened
Terminals oxidised
Battery discharged
Faulty ignition: humidity in the
ignition system
Faulty carburation (bubbles of
vaporised fuel in circuit)
Poor compression
REMEDIAL ACTION
Check battery terminal contacts:
scrape clean if oxidised and
retighten.
Connect another battery to the faulty
battery.
Change battery.
Check battery terminal contacts:
scrape clean if oxidised and
retighten.
Connect another battery to the faulty
battery.
Dry the coil and spark plug leads.
Let the engine cool down.
Contact a RENAULT Dealer.
