Similarly fix the other end of the MT with a magnetic clamp (see Figure 9–10). MT can
also be fixed on the examined surface manually — without using magnetic clamps.

Select the CMS concentrator according to the properties of the examined object.

Make a magnetic copy. Lower the concentrator of the magnetic scanner unto the fixed MT
strip and, slightly pressing it down, move it from the beginning to the end of the examined
area (see Figure 9). The operator should visually and tacitly control the perpendicularity
of the flat scanner in relation to the examined surface in order to receive a magnetic
copy of good quality. Rotary and compact scanners move along the examined surface
keeping a stable position due to magnetic attraction. In case copying conditions were
not fulfilled (because of MT shift, lack of contact of the scanner), all operations should
be repeated starting from MT demagnetization.
