A

You can record up to two different
announcements — one for normal
answering and one for when you’ve set the
system to play the announcement only.

• Use normal answering when you want

the system to record callers’ messages.
Use Announce Only when you want
your announcement to greet callers
without accepting messages.

• If you choose not to record an

announcement, the system answers
with a pre-recorded announcement.

• The normal answering pre-recorded

announcement says: “Hello. I’m unable
to answer your call right now. Please
leave your name, number and a
message after the tone.”

The Announce Only pre-recorded
announcement says: “Hello, I’m unable
to answer your call right now. Please
call again. Thank you.”

• By setting Announce Only to ON or

OFF, you decide which announcement
your callers will hear when the system
answers a call (the system comes set
for normal answering, with Announce
Only turned off).

In addition to recording (setting) an outgoing
message, you can set up other features one
at a time, or you can set up a feature and
then move on to set up another feature.

1. Make sure the answering system is on.

The

ANSWER ON/OFF

button is lit when

the system is on. If the button is not lit,
press

ANSWER ON/OFF

to turn the

system on.

announces the feature you want to set.

“Set Security Code”

Use

SELECT

to choose the remote access

code you will use to interact with the
system’s features and functions from a
remote touch tone phone. You can select
any two digit number from 40 to 99 as the
new code. The default security code is 50.

“Set Audible Message Alert”

When the message alert is turned on, the
base beeps once every 10 seconds if new
messages have been received. Choose
between On or Off. The default setting is Off.

“Set Announce Only”

When you set “Announce Only” to On,
callers hear your announcement, but cannot
leave a message. The default setting is Off.

“Set Base Ringer”

This option turns the base ringer On or Off.
The default setting is On.

“Set Number of Rings”

This option allows you to choose the number
of times the phone rings before the system
answers the call. The choices are

The system automatically saves your
messages until you delete them, and can
store approximately 16 minutes of
messages, memos, and announcements (up
to a maximum of 99 messages). A message
or memo can be up to 4 minutes long.

After the phone has recorded a message, its
message-counter shows the total number of
messages stored. If the message alert is on,
and you have new messages, the indicator
of the MAILBOX flashes and the TAD beeps
every 10 seconds.

Recording Your Announcement

If you have assigned different mailboxes to
different people, be sure to tell callers in your
announcement to press 1, 2, or 3 before
speaking, so they can leave a message in the
appropriate mailbox. Otherwise all messages
will be recorded in mailbox 1

“Set Number of Rings”

• If you do not press any button within about

20 seconds during setting, the display
returns to normal display and the setting
saved.

• You can exit the feature setup mode at any

time by pressing a MAILBOX button.

• When Toll Saver is chosen, the system

answers after two rings when you have new
messages and after four rings when there
are no new messages.
