17.0 Testing the Accuracy of a Test Board
(Open Collector Option)
Equipment Needed:
• RM-111 Automated Comparator
• RM or RD Primary Reference Watthour Standard
• Meter test board with open collector input
• Commercial adapter or a mofdifi ed meter baseplate with the proper leads to
bring voltage and current from the test board to the reference standard
Test Steps:
1. Make connections between the test board and the RM or RD standard(s) as per Figure 17.0.
The standard must get both current and potential from the test board.
2. Turn on the RM-111 and select RUN TESTS.
3. Select Test Board.
4. Enter the Kh.
5. Select the Pulse Output Type. For this application, select Open Collector.
• The Kh value will appear truncated in the LCD. However, all six places to the right of the
decimal point are used in the calculation.
6. Make the proper connections to the RM-111. Connect the standard(s) to ports A,B, and/or
C. Connect the test board to port D. Refer to Figure 17.0 “Testing the Accuracy of a Test Board
(Open Collector Option)” for connection details. Press ENTER to start the test.
7. Set up the test board as if testing a meter. For this example, the variables will be set for a Form
1S meter: Kh=1.8, 120V, 10Amps, and one revolution.
