Electrical Systems
4.1 General
Your Pursuit boat is equipped with a 12 volt
DC electrical system. The DC system draws
current from onboard batteries.
Electrical schematics are included in this
manual to assist technicians in the servicing
the electrical systems. Pursuit recommends
you take your boat to an authorized Pursuit
dealer for service or installation of additional
electrical equipment. Pursuit reserves the
right to modify or update the electrical sys-
tem at any time without notice to the con-
sumer or obligation to make updates to
boats built prior to the change.
Some compartments on your boat may be
lighted. Lights bulbs produce heat and can
ignite combustible products. Turn off all light-
ing before you leave the boat.
4.2 DC System
Batteries
The 12-volt batteries have been selected to
provide optimum performance for engine
starting, and house and electronics loads.
There are two, group 31, lead acid batteries.
These batteries require similar maintenance
to automobile batteries. The batteries are
located in the aft bilge. A circuit breaker on
the engine protects the engine ignition sys-
tems and gauges. Refer to the engine
owner's manual for information on the circuit
breakers installed on your engines.
DC Distribution
The 12-volt DC system is made up of batter-
ies that are charged by the engine charging
system. Boats that are factory rigged with
Yamaha® engines utilize the Yamaha Bat-
tery Isolator to charge the engine battery
and the house battery. 12-volt power is dis-
tributed to the battery switches, accessed in
the head unit, and main breakers, in the bat-
tery switch panel, that protect the helm
panel, electronics, 24-hour essential circuits
and the windlass.
The circuit breaker on the engine protects
the engine ignition systems and gauges.
Refer to the engine owner's manual for infor-
mation on your engines.
!
WARNING
FIRE OR EXPLOSION HAZARD
Ignited combustible products can
cause fire or explosion, resulting in
death or serious injury. DO NOT store
combustibles near lights and turn off
all lighting before leaving the boat.
NOTICE
Proper fuse or breaker protection must
be provided for all 12-volt equipment
added. DO NOT overload the Accessory
Circuit Breakers or other circuitry
through additional 12-volt equipment.
