EMPTYING THE HOLDING TANK
When the holding tank is full it must either be pumped out by an approved waste dumping station through
the waste deck fitting or be pumped overboard with the macerator discharge pump, when legal to do so.
To operate the macerator pump, open the ball valve at the thru-hull fitting behind the center bilge access hatch
in the head compartment. Then activate the macerator switch until the tank is emptied. Release the switch
and close the discharge ball valve when pumping is complete.
THE MACERATOR DISCHARGE PUMP CAN ONLY BE RUN DRY FOR A FEW SECONDS.
ALLOWING THE MACERATOR PUMP TO RUN AFTER THE HOLDING TANK IS EMPTY
MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PUMP.
IN SOME WATERS YOU CAN BE FINED FOR HAVING AN OPERABLE DIRECT OVER-
BOARD DISCHARGE OF WASTE. TO AVOID A FINE, REMOVING THE SEACOCK
HANDLE, IN THE CLOSED POSITION, OR OTHER MEANS MUST BE USED.
MAINTENANCE
The head should be cleaned and inspected for leaks regularly. Periodically add chemical to the head to help
control odor and to chemically break down the waste. See the manufacturer owner’s manual for additional
operating and maintenance information.
THE HEAD AND MACERATOR DISCHARGE SYSTEMS MUST BE PROPERLY WINTERIZED
BEFORE WINTER LAY-UP. SEE THE SECTION ON WINTERIZING.
8.2 Head Compartment Features
VANITY AND SINK
The head compartment has a vanity that is equipped with
a sink and a faucet. The holding tank monitor and
macerator pump out switch is also located in the vanity.
The counters may be made of Corian® and should be
cared for much as you would your Corian® counters in
your home. Please read the Corian® Surfaces section of
the Routine Maintenance Chapter.
A door in the vanity provides access to the storage area
below the sink and the sink plumbing. The head floor has
a drain connected to a sump pump in the center bilge
behind the access hatch in the rear head bulkhead. An
opening port light above the sink provides daylight and ventilation. There is also a 12-volt overhead light
in the ceiling above the sink.
