3. Integrated pressure reducing valve
in the fi lling hose
The pressure reducing valve integrated
in the fi lling hose, included in the scope of
delivery, ensures that the tire cannot be
fi lled to bursting if it is infl ated without
monitoring and the user forgets to discon-
nect the hose from the tire in time. This
valve starts to operate from a pressure of
around 3 bar progressively letting less air
through until it fully closes when the inter-
nal tire pressure reaches around 3.5 bar. The
maximum permissible inlet pressure on the
pressure reducing valve is 15 bar.
The pressure reducing valve naturally
has a certain regulating effect on the fl ow
speed. It is important, therefore, to work
with the compressor running and prefera-
bly with high reservoir pressure to ensure
that the fl ow rate is at its highest. Usually,
however, the compressor output will be
the limiting time factor when infl ating the
tires (indicated by the fact that the reservoir
pressure reduces during infl ation).
The pressure reducing valve also ensures
that the quick defl ator gauge is not under
too much pressure. If a fi lling hose with-
out pressure reducing is attached to the
quick defl ator, back pressure may build
up in the fi lling hose or the quick defl ator
in case of high compressor output. This
would exceed the 4 bar gauge limit and
cause irreparable damage to the pressure
gauge.
NOTE
For safety reasons, always infl ate the tires
using the AIRBOOSTER
®
plus fi lling hose
only. To avoid confusing it with other hos-
es you may use, the hose has a distinct
blue colour.
