Specific patient positioning
The patient sits on the seat and leans against the backrest. The seat is now moved backwards or forwards,
depending on the length of the thigh, until the axis of rotation of the training device coincides with the
axis of movement of the knee joint (imaginary line through the two femoral condyles) with full contact
with the backrest and the lumbar cushion (optional). To do this, operate the release lever on the left side
under the seat. The fine adjustment of the joint axis is performed by means of the spindle under the seat
via the adjustment of the height-adjustable thigh support pad. To avoid the occurrence of shear forces,
this adjustment should be made as accurately as possible. The thighs are fixed in place with the aid of
the thigh pad. The starting position for the knee joint can be individually adjusted in 10° increments. To
do this, press the pushbutton on the guide rod on the cam plate and move the lever arm to the desired
position and then release the pushbutton to engage the bolt again. The thighs are fixed via the freely
swiveling thigh pad. The release lever for the gas pressure spring is located next to the right thigh of the
user. Please operate this lever and press down the thigh roll to fix it, then release the lever again to fix
it. The lower legs are placed on the lower leg pad. The length of the lever arm depends firstly on the
length of the lower leg and secondly on the load-bearing capacity of the injured structures. Thus, the
lower leg pad is usually located just above the malleolus of the ankle joint (distal lever attachment).
However, a more gentle training method results from shortening the lever by bringing the pad closer to
the knee joint (proximal lever approach). While loosening the clamping screw, the pad is pushed into
the corresponding position. During training, care must be taken to ensure that no evasive movement is
made with the upper body. The back must maintain constant contact with the backrest.
The Range of Motion Limiter (optional) for the end position is located above the weight block and is
adjusted by loosening the fastening screw.
