4. Installation
The PROTECTO safety cabinet must be installed on a level surface which is capable of
supporting it when fully loaded. Shims should be placed underneath the cabinet if the floor is
uneven. The cabinet should be securely screwed to the building or structure for safety
reasons to prevent it from toppling over.
Remove all transport protections. Only then are the products fully ready to operate.
Remove the key and the bow handle(s) from the top of the cabinet and fasten them to the
door(s) using the threaded screws which are enclosed. The PROTECTO safety cabinet must
be absolutely level. You achieve this by adjusting the feet in the base of the floor standing
cabinet (they can be adjusted by 25 mm). Insert a hex key (5 mm) through the holes in the
bottom of the cabinet from the inside to adjust the feet to the required height. The self-closing
function will be impaired if the cabinet is not level.
After aligning, mount the 42mm (EN9x.xxx) or 38mm (EN30.xxx) plinth on the front of the
floor standing cabinet using the enclosed 70mm long screws with covers.
After aligning the floor standing cabinet, secure the base panel using the
screws provided.
The base panels must be fitted again because they are essential for fire protection.
Without them, the cabinet’s fire integrity will be compromised and the approval will
cease to be valid.
The actual place of use / operation must be such that the safety cabinet
- Cannot be damaged by vehicles,
- Is not exposed to direct or indirect heat,
- Is protected against moisture,
- Is not exposed to operating temperatures less than 5°C or greater than +40°C.
Instructions on storing lithium ion batteries (SST-LI):
The combustion of Li-ion batteries can lead to heavy smoke. The cabinets primarily
serve to contain the fire, but are not smoke-tight. PROTECTO recommends installing
a smoke detector close to the cabinet to control on-site ventilation to extract flue
gases in case of fire.
