3. Tighten both lock knobs to secure the tool in place once
the grinding angle is set.
4. Tilt the grinding jig upward so the tool edge is not touching
the wheel before powering up the tool sharpener. This will
prevent a kickback and damage to the tool sharpener or
workpiece.
5. Ease the tool jig downward until the tool edge contacts the
rotating grinding wheel. Raise the jip upwards and slide it
along the universal support to change the area of the tool
being ground.
ANGLE GUIDE
WARNING! Do not attempt to set up the angle while the
grinding wheel is in motion. A tool can catch the wheel and be
thrown, causing an injury to you or a bystander. Turn the power
OFF and unplug the tool sharpener before setting the angle.
The angle guide that accompanies the tool sharpener helps to
identify the angle of the tool’s cutting edge.
1. There are eight notched angles cut into the four sides of
the angle guide. Insert the tool’s edge into each notched
angle until it is a snug fit, with the edge only slightly
protruding into the notch.
1.1 A tool’s edge may have an angle that falls between
different notches. Choose the notch with the closest
angle that matches the tool’s edge or use an angle
guide with a greater range of angles.
1.2 There are images on the angle guide label. These
indicate the type of edged tool that is likely to have a
particular angle. If the angle indicated is not a good fit,
try the other notched angles on the gauge.
2. Position the edge of the tool on the grinding wheel.
Tighten the grinding jig knobs enough to lightly hold the
tool, but allow it to be moved within the jig.
