GRINDING TOOL PRECAUTIONS
1. Only use a grinding wheel of the recommended size
with the correct arbor size and shape that matches the
grinder’s spindle.
1.1 Use a grinding wheel intended for wet grinding.
2. Ensure the grinding wheel has a clean edge. Check the
grinding wheel for wear or chipping and replace if necessary.
3. Never install more than one grinding wheel at a time unless
the tool and wheels are designed for that purpose.
4. Use the correct mounting hardware. Mismatched mounting
hardware may result in a tool malfunction and cause an injury.
5. A large amount of sparks will be created when working
with a grinding wheel. Hold the tool so that sparks fly away
from you, bystanders or flammable materials. Have a fully
charged fire extinguisher present in the event of a fire.
6. Do not subject the grinding wheel to any lateral pressure as
it may damage the tool or cause it to kickback.
KICKBACK PRECAUTIONS
Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged
accessory caught on the material. The material can be ejected
and inflict a serious injury on the user or a bystander. Kickback
can also damage the tool or workpiece.
Kickback can be avoided by taking proper precautions:
1. Maintain a firm grip on the material and position your
body and arms to allow you to resist a kickback. Kickback
can propel the material in the direction of the grinding
accessory’s rotation.
2. Use special care when working on corners, sharp edges or
flexible material. These workpieces have a tendency to
snag the grinding accessory.
