Basic information
Under Directive 2006/42/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 May 2006 on machinery and amending
Directive 95/16/EC (new version), the ProLux Wheel clamp is a load-bearing device.
For the purposes of this standard, the wheel clamp is a non-hoist component or piece of equipment which allows the load
to be gripped and which is attached between the machine and the load or to the load itself or which is intended to become
an integral part of the load in order to lift it.
It is essential that you read the original operating instructions completely and observe all notes and information
carefully before using the unit for the first time.
The operating instructions must be kept available to the user until the use of the product is terminated.
All information refers to products in good-as-new condition.
If you remove or change safeguards or make structural changes, any liability of the manufacturer is excluded.
These operating instructions correspond to the state of delivery of the product. ProLux Systemtechnik GmbH & Co KG does
not accept any liability for incorrect information and product damage due to improper use.
The operator of the load-bearing equipment is required to draw up operating instructions in accordance with §12 ArbSchG
and §2 paragraph 1 of the BGV A1 Principles of Prevention. The guidelines for this are given in BGI 578.
Intended use
The ProLux Wheel clamp is a load handling device for picking up a car by its wheels with the use of a crane. It is used for
loading cars with a maximum total weight of 3000 kg.
Only use the wheel clamp for the purposes described in this operating manual. Any other use is not regarded as proper
use.
Not permitted
- Do not use the wheel clamp to drag or tow vehicles.
- Do not use less than four wheel clamps on a vehicle
- Exceeding the maximum permissible load capacity.
- Lifting persons.
- Allowing persons to stand under the suspended load.
- Pulling loads at an angle.
- Tearing off fixed loads.
- Knocking or striking the load-bearing equipment.
- Shock loads must be avoided.
- Operation by insufficiently trained operating personnel.
- Operation with unsuitable cranes (information can be found in the operating manual of the crane).
- Operation with defective and unsafe cranes.
- Do not apply any surface treatments to the product which could damage the material.
These include heat treatments, welding and drilling.
Organisational measures and safety
Use is only permitted by authorised and instructed persons and in compliance with DIN EN 1492 and BGR 500 or country-
specific regulations.
Always determine the load weight of the load to be lifted before use. The permissible load capacity of the wheel clamp
must never be exceeded. Use the wheel clamps only for mounting on intact tyres with sufficient air pressure. Otherwise the
rim may be damaged and/or tyres may slip off the wheel clamps.
