Accident prevention regulations:
The regulations valid in the country of use must be observed 1)
In Germany at the moment:
- EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
- BGV D 8 Winch, lifting and pulling equipment
- prEN 982 Safety requirements for hydraulic equipment
- ISO 11530 - Hydraulic carjacks
- EN 1494 - Portable lifting equipment
- DIN 76024 Manually operated jacks for motor vehicles
1) as amended
Not permitted
- Never exceed the maximum load capacity of the carjack.
- Do not switch on the engine when the vehicle is raised. Vibration can make the load uncontrollable and
cause it to slip off the jack's support plate.
- Never stay under a load that is only lifted with the jack. Work under the vehicle may only be started when the
load is additionally secured by suitable support stands.
- The setting of the safety valve must not be changed.
- No persons may lean against a raised vehicle.
- The vehicle may only be lifted at the jacking points approved by the manufacturer. Information on this can be
found in the operating manual of the vehicle manufacturer.
- Not suitable for use in hazardous areas.
- Not suitable for use in aggressive environments.
Failure to observe the safety instructions may cause the load to slip or fall and cause serious injury and/or
damage to objects.
Organisational measures and safety
Only use the jack if the (stable) floor is sufficiently fastened. If necessary, use underlays (e.g. stable wooden
planks) Ensure that the pump lever can move freely.
Operation, use and maintenance only by authorised, qualified personnel.
Definition for skilled workers according to IEC 364:
Qualified personnel are persons who, on the basis of their training, experience, instruction and knowledge
of the relevant standards and regulations, accident prevention regulations and operating conditions, have
been authorised by those responsible for the safety of the plant to perform the respective required activities
and to recognise and avoid possible hazards.
- The operator is responsible for the safe positioning of the lifter.
- The device is marked with its maximum permissible load.
- The load to be lifted must not exceed this maximum load.
- Position the device at the point provided by the vehicle manufacturer in such a way that it is not necessary
to reach under the vehicle.
- Only the jack type specified by the vehicle manufacturer may be used (see operating manual for vehicles,
section "Wheel change").
- It is prohibited to carry persons or to stay in the danger area.
- Do not stay under a raised load without additional support.
- Never leave the load unattended without additional support when it is lifted.
If work under the vehicle cannot be avoided, the lifted load must be safely supported (e.g. by means of
support stands).
- Never reach into moving parts.
- Faults must be rectified immediately by an expert.
- No lateral forces may act on the jack.
- The lifter must be positioned in such a way that only vertical forces act on the lifter.
