6 Appendix B: Deployment Details
Primera includes an installer that can be used to install the PTBurn server and the PxEngine.
Simply launch the file
SETUP.EXE
in the PTBurn directory and complete the installation. Each
vendor can perform some customization by editing the loose files PTSETUP.INI and
PXROBO_B.INI before deployment. See the PTSETUP.INI and PXROBO_B.INI files in the
PTBurn directory for customization choices in each file.
If you do not wish to utilize the SETUP.EXE installer provided to install the PTBurn server, but
would instead like to write your own installer, below are some steps that must be followed in
order to successfully install the PTBurn SDK.
Installation of PxEngine:
In order to install the recording engine the executable
pxsetup.exe
in the PxEngine directory
needs to be called. This executable will run silently and almost instantaneously. The user must
reboot prior to running PTBurn. You can continue to install other software components but the
reboot must occur before the software is first launched.
Alternatively, you can run the executable PxEngineXXX.exe to install the burning engine (where
XXX is the version number); however, this is not a silent installation and it will prompt the user
to reboot the computer after installation.
Location of PTBurn executables:
The server installer SETUP.EXE installs the following files in “C:\Program Files\Primera
Technology\PTBurn Server\Server\”. If you write your own installer, these files are not location
dependent and can be installed in any location desired. However, a registry key MUST be
created to reference the location of these files. These files NEED to be in the location specified
by the registry key.
