typing any character pushes the character the cursor is on, and
any characters after it, rightward.
A search can turn up groups, or playable items, or both. We’re confident that
you already know how to select groups and get to the playable items in them.
This means you’re now in the kind of screen that brings on the show . . . .
Content Selection Screens
A content selection screen is one in which file names and/or titles of audio/video
items appear and can be selected to play back the items.
Two buttons that have been dormant up to now are active in content selection
screens. One other, described above in the section on category selection screens,
works similarly in content selection screens:
The play/pause button starts playback or display of the highlighted item.
Memory
is the first button you press to bookmark the highlighted item.
Play All
lets you play back all video, audio, or image items in the current
collection.
And now to fill in the details . . . .
The play/pause button works just like
Select
(and the right arrow button in list
view) when the name or title of a video, audio piece, image, playlist, or Internet
radio station is highlighted: it starts playback.
(Unlike
Select
and the right arrow button, the play/pause button will also
pause and resume a video or audio piece during playback — but we’re getting
ahead of ourselves . . . .)
Memory
displays the Memory screen and instructions for bookmarking the
item that was highlighted when you pressed
Memory
.
If you decide not to set a bookmark, press
Return
to cancel
Memory
.
The Memory screen has ten “slots” for bookmarks. To bookmark the item that
was highlighted when you pressed
Memory
, proceed as follows:
1. Move the highlighting to an unused slot or a slot containing an item that
can be replaced.
2. Press
Select
.
A red dot will appear briefly in the top left corner of the screen, and a
success message will appear at the bottom of the screen.
3. Press
Return
to go back.
Play All
, as in category selection screens, first displays a query asking if you
want to play all music, all photos, or all movies.
You must select a type of content that exists in the current collection. You
cannot play videos, for example, if you are currently in a group containing only
audio items.
