PVT SYSTEM SERVICE
PVT DISASSEMBLY
1. Place transmission in neutral.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
CAUTION
Serious injury may result if machine tips or falls. Be
sure machine is secure before beginning this service
procedure.
3. Remove the left rear wheel.
4. Loosen the hose clamp attaching PVT intake hose to
the outer clutch cover and disengage the hose from
the outer clutch cover.
5. Remove the eight clutch cover screws
q
and remove
the outer clutch cover from the vehicle.
6. Mark the drive belt direction of rotation and remove
drive belt. Refer to
“Drive Belt Removal” page 6.11
procedure.
7. Remove the driven clutch retaining bolt and driven
clutch.
8. Install the Drive Clutch Holding Tool on the drive
clutch.

9. Remove the drive clutch retaining bolt and remove
the drive clutch using Drive Clutch Puller.
Drive Clutch Puller:
2872085
IMPORTANT
Be sure to use the correct Drive Clutch Puller (PN
2872085
) to prevent damage to crankshaft.
10. Remove the fasteners that secure the upper guard
plate
w
to the top of the inner PVT cover. Make note
of the routing of the fuel lines, vent line, battery cable
and wire harness for proper assembly.
11. Loosen the hose clamp
e
attaching PVT inlet duct to
the inner clutch cover. Disengage the hose from the
inner clutch cover.
12. Loosen hose clamps
r
that attach clutch outlet duct
to inner clutch cover. Disengage hose from the cover.
13. Remove the seven bolts
t
that retain inner clutch
cover to engine and transmission. Remove inner
clutch cover.
