4.11.4. DVB-T/H Demodulator Software Updating
The IT-088 offers the capability to update the DVB-T/H software without use of any
additional equipment. We go on with development of the Analyzer and keep on working
out new software versions that provide new features. These new software versions come
available for free download on our website
www.planar.chel.ru
in the section that describes
IT-088. Each version of the software has its unique date of upgrading.
To update your software, proceed as follows:
a) connect your IT-088 to the serial port of the PC by means of a regular cable;
b) copy the new version of automatic SW update program from our website (file name
similar to
«DemodSoft_IT088(30_09_08).exe»
). The file date may differ from shown in
example;
c) switch the Analyzer on and select «Operation Controlled by PC» mode. The
icon corresponds to this mode.
e) start the copied automatic SW update program (figure 4.59). Select serial port of PC,
which connects it to your IT-088 and click
«Start»

If your IT-088 functions properly, RS232-port cable is connected correctly, you have
selected the appropriate COM port, and the software to be downloaded is compatible with
the instrument, the process of program download onto your Analyzer will automatically
start. After the download is over, the pop-up window will announce that the task has been
successfully completed. The IT-088 will reboot and start operating similar to when it has
been powered up.
CAUTION
Do not interrupt the loading process. This can lead to
malfunction of the Analyzer. But, if this does occur, repeat the process of
program update.
4.12. Battery Operation
The IT-088 is powered by a built-in power source with 6 NiMH AA batteries of 14.5x49.5
mm dimensions and no less than 2100 mAh capacity. Also it is allowed to use alkaline AA
batteries (model LR6).
To determine the residual capacity of the batteries, use the self-test program of the
Analyzer (see section 4.6.3). When the effective charge level of the battery drops to a
critical point, you will hear the warning beep. This signifies that the time of operation until
total battery discharge is approximately 5 minutes.
Maximum continuous operating time of IT-088 is provided in LEVEL mode or in
measurement modes with manual scanning startup. Various conditions, such as low
ambient temperature, sound check configuration, and operation with display backlight on
can decrease the IT-088 continuous operating time.
To charge the batteries in an appropriate charger, remove IT-088 from its Carrying
Case. Check the position of the power switch. It must be in
«Off»
position. Open the cover
of the battery compartment. Carefully remove the batteries. The batteries must be charged
in a charger, which is appropriate to the type of the batteries you are using.
