 Stream Smoother
St r eam Smoothe r is a function that automatically
im pr oves p ictu r e quality when p laying netwo r k video
contents by using a built-in high p ictu r e quality ci r cuit to
r educe mosquito noise, block noise, etc.
St r eam Smoothe r function on this p laye r wo r ks
exclusively with the following situations.
• When p laying a video dist r ibution se r vice on a
netwo r k o r PC contents sto r ed on a medium.
Note
• This function is activated even when no AV r eceive r is
connected.

About the PQLS function
PQLS (P r ecision Qua r tz Lock System) is a digital audio
t r ansfe r cont r ol technology using the HDMI cont r ol
function. The p laye r ’s out p ut signals a r e cont r olled f r om
the AV r eceive r to achieve high sound quality p layback
using the r eceive r ’s qua r tz oscillato r . This eliminates the
influence of the jitte r gene r ated du r ing signal t r ansfe r
which can adve r sely affect the sound quality.
• This p laye r su pp o r ts the functions below.
– The “PQLS 2ch Audio” function that is activated
when p laying music CDs (CD-DAs)
– The “PQLS Multi Su rr ound” function that is
activated when p laying all discs (BDs, DVDs, etc.)
with linea r PCM audio out p ut
– The “PQLS Bitst r eam” function that is activated
when p laying with bitst r eam audio out p ut
• The va r ious PQLS functions a r e activated when a
Pionee r AV r eceive r su pp o r ting the PQLS functions is
connected di r ectly to the HDMI OUT te r minal with an
HDMI cable and the p laye r ’s settings a r e set as
shown below ( p age 40).

• See the Pionee r website fo r AV r eceive r s su pp o r ting
the PQLS function.
Caution
• The PQLS function may sto p wo r king when the video
out p ut r esolution is switched. The PQLS function will
sta r t wo r king again once p layback is sto pp ed then
r esta r ted.
• When the PQLS 2ch function is activated, the out p ut
f r om the p laye r ’s VIDEO OUTPUT jacks may not have
the pr o p e r colo r s. If this ha pp ens, connect the TV and
AV r eceive r ’s HDMI te r minals to view the p ictu r e.
• Tu r n on the p owe r of the AV r eceive r connected to the
HDMI OUT te r minal, then sta r t p layback of the disc.
Note
• PQLS indicato r on the p laye r ’s f r ont p anel dis p lay
lights when the PQLS function is activated ( p age 14).
Connecting a TV
See Connecting an AV receiver or amplifier on p age 19 to
connect an AV r eceive r o r am p lifie r using an HDMI cable.
Caution
• Hold the p lug when connecting and disconnecting
the cable.
• Placing a load on the p lug could r esult in faulty
contact and no video signals being out p ut.
Connect a TV to the HDMI OUT (MAIN) te r minal.
It is also p ossible to connect a TV via AV r ecieve r o r
am p lifie r to HDMI OUT (MAIN) te r minal. See Connecting
an AV receiver or amplifier on p age 19.
Caution
• Make su r e to set HDMI Mode to Dual ( p age 39).
