Preinstallation Checks for the Paradise Video Card
The Paradise Video card is installed at the factory for the Altos full-feature workstations. However,
if you do not have a video display on power-up, verify that the settings on the card were properly
configured as described below. If replacing a video card on the Altos 386 full-feature workstations
with a Paradise Video card, the default strapped by the manufacturer may not be compatible with
the workstation, also resulting in no video display. For either case, if the identifications on the card
have the WDC Chip number as WD90C33-ZZ, ’94 appears on the Paradise chip, and 833124
appears on the label on the back of the board, the following jumper settings apply (see Figure 1
below):

The jumper at location JP1 is set on Pins 2 and 3.
•
The jumpers at location JP4 remains at the factory setting. Jumpers are set on Pins (left to
right) 1, 2, 3, and 4 with 5 and 6 open.
