Cleaning

Do not use strong or abrasive detergents when cleaning the
body.
When using a chemical cloth for cleaning, read the caution

About reboot of this product
In the following cases, this product will automatically reboot
to continue recording.
• When an HDD is removed in a different way from the
description of "Installation or replacement of the hard
disk drives" (

page 29).
• When the software of this product has detected the
internal error and reboot becomes necessary.
About DVD disks (DVD-drive-equipped models only)
• It is impossible to use commercially released or rental
DVD disks. When the data were copied from this prod-
uct, it is impossible to play back DVD disks on other
DVD drives or players.
• Do not leave the disk tray open.
• Do not mount anything other than specified disks on the
disk tray.
• Do not open the disk tray forcibly.
• Keep this product away from magnets or magnetized
items. Otherwise, performance may be unstable due to
magnetism.
• Do not use the product near the radio or television.
Otherwise, the product may interrupt the reception.
Cleaning and handling DVD disks
(DVD-drive-equipped models only)
• After a long period of use, the drive or disks may be
dusty, and data may not be copied properly. It is recom-
mended to clean the product periodically using the
exclusive cleaning kit (option). (The recommended clean-
ing frequency may differ depending on number of times
or environment of use.)

Blow dust away from the lens using the blower
• Wipe away the sebum or dust gently with a dry soft
cloth when the recording surface of a disk becomes
dirty. (Wipe the disk from the center to the margin.)When
the dirt is hard to remove, wipe the product gently with a
soft cloth wet with water. Wipe out the water completely
using a soft cloth.
• Do not use solvents such as alcohol or thinner. These
materials may damage the surface of disks.
• When using a chemical cloth for cleaning, read the cau-
tion provided with the chemical cloth product.
• When the dirt is hard to remove from the disk tray of this
product, clean the tray as well as disks. When cleaning
the disk tray, turn off the power of the product, and wipe
with a dry soft cloth. When using a chemical cloth for
cleaning, read the caution provided with the chemical
cloth product.
• When picking up a disk to insert into or eject from this
product, do not touch the recording surface (the side
with no printing).
• Do not put adhesive papers, labels or stickers, or do not
write anything with a pencil or ballpoint pen, etc. on the
surface of disks.
• Not handling this product and disks properly may cause
troubles such as failure in data copy, loss of written data
or damage to the disk drive, etc.
