Dial-up Networking Setup for Windows 98 BASE System
1. Dial-up Networking Setup for Remote Access
1.1 In the Windows mode, go to
Start
on the Task Bar, to
Programs
, to
Accessories,
and to
Communications
. If
Dial-up Networking
is listed, go to step 1.2.
NOTE:
If Dial-up Networking is not listed, go to Start on the Task Bar, to Control Panel, to Add/Remove
Programs and to
Windows Setup
. Check the
Communications
box and then click the
Details...
button below. In
the Communications dialog box, check the
Dial-Up Networking
box and the
Dial-Up Server
box, and then click
the
OK
button. Follow the Windows instructions for installing the necessary software. You can save your
changes by clicking the
OK
button. Selecting
Cancel
exits the dialog box without saving the changes.
1.2 In the Windows mode, go to
Start
on the Task Bar, to
Control Panel,
and to
Network
.
1.3 Under the
Configuration
tab in the
Network
dialog box, move to
Primary Network Logon
and select
Windows Logon
from the drop-down list. Then, click the
Add
... button to set up the adapter and protocol.
1.4 Click
Adaptor
and then click the
Add
... button.
1.5 Click
Microsoft
from the Manufacturers and
Dial-Up Adaptor
for the Network Adaptors. Click the
OK
button
to save the changes and return to the previous dialog box.
