7 Control Modes
Notice:
The photos mentioned are valid for all hand sizes.
For optimal patient fitting, the prosthesist may choose from two different control modes by insert-
ing or removing the Function Plug
7.1 7.1 Function Plug inserted (as delivered)
Digital Mode - Dual site (Fig.1, Fig. 2).
After the corresponding electrode signal has exceeded a certain threshold value, the hand opens
and closes at a constant speed.
7.2 Function Plug removed
Double channel mode - single site (Fig. 3, Fig. 4).
The hand is opened and closed by one electrode only.
A slow and gentle muscle signal will close the hand.
A quick and strong muscle signal will open the hand.
8 Adjusting the Electrode(s)
To gain the best possible function from the Digital Twin Control the electrodes must be optimally
adjusted. This is easy with the 757M11 MyoBoy.
Notice:
Dial 1 (Fig. 5, Fig 6, red arrow) is to be used exclusively for service work. Only certified
Ottobock Service facilities may change the position of the dial.
8.1 Procedure with Digital Mode (with Function Plug)
For detailed information please refer to the 647G265 MyoBoy Instructions for Use.
In the MyoSoft/PAULA program, select „Digital Twin with Function Plug“. Adjust each electrode
so that the muscle signal can be maintained at a point barely above the value ON (Fig. 7) for
approximately two seconds. Dial 2 on the electronic control has no function in the digital mode.
8.2 Procedure with Double Channel Mode - Single Site (without Function Plug)
For detailed information please refer to the 647G265 MyoBoy Instructions for Use.
Before changing the digital mode (dual site) to the double channel mode (single site), remove the
inner hand lock ring. Then remove the inner hand and function plug (Fig. 9, Fig. 10). To reset the
system so that it will recognize the new control mode, remove the battery, then re-insert it.
In the MyoSoft/PAULA program, select „Digital Twin without Function Plug“. Adjust the slider on
the scale to 3.5. Set Dial 2 on the electronic control also to 3.5 (Fig. 5, Fig. 6).
Adjust the electrode so that the muscle signal reaches a value just below the second threshold
marked in MyoSoft/PAULA by the broken line: the hand closes (Fig. 8).
Overcome the threshold with a quick, strong muscle signal to open the hand.
If the muscle signal is too slow or weak, set the threshold in MyoSoft/PAULA to a lower value
(slider). Set Dial 2 (Fig. 5, Fig. 6) on the electronic control to the same level.
