4.2 Design
The Lumbo TriStep is delivered ready for trial fitting.
The Lumbo TriStep is a three-component lumbar spine bridging brace that can be reduced in
function by removing components in three steps. A support element (4) and an adaptable bridg-
ing element (5) are attached to the outside of the lumbar spine brace.
System:
Therapy stage 1 – lumbar spine bridging brace:
Lumbar spine brace + support element (4) + bridging element (5)
Therapy stage 2 – lumbar spine support brace:
Lumbar spine brace + support element (4)
Therapy stage 3 – lumbar spine brace:
Lumbar spine brace + optional lumbar pad (13)
The 50R30 Lumbo TriStep consists of a back part (1), side parts of different widths, attachable
by hook and loop closure (2), and an abdominal closure (3). The support element (4) is made
of plastic and consists of vertical splints which decrease in length from the dorsal to the ventral
region. The individual splint ends are attached to the brace with hook and loop closures.
Strap guide loops (6) connect the Perlon cord (10), which runs through the frame, to the wide
strap (11) which ends on the abdominal closure (3). Strap holders (7) and strap tensioners (9)
secure the support element (4) and the bridging element (5) on the abdominal closure (3). The
strap tensioners (9) are also used to apply tension on both sides on the support element (4) and
the bridging element (5).
Two mounting adapters (12) attach the bridging element (5), which consists of four vertical splints,
to the support element (4).
In the third stage of therapy, a lumbar pad (13) can be attached to the inside of the brace by hook
and loop connection, if desired.
