2.2 Function
The product helps create the most natural possible appearance. The product forms the exterior
finish of a prosthesis. The product is not required for the proper and safe functioning of the pros­
thesis.
The functional shank is shaped by the O&P professional to create the most natural possible
appearance. Streaks, colour differences and small air pockets (up to 1 cm) in the functional
shank are concealed by the functional stocking. These differences, which are due to production
reasons, do not affect the function of the product and therefore do not constitute grounds for
complaints.
The functional stocking finishes the outside of the functional cosmesis. Various colours and sizes
are available.
INFORMATION
Size S of the functional stocking cannot be used for all users due to the body height (see
Page 2, dimension points 1 and 2). Additional socket volume has to be created for size L
1
so the
adhesion of the functional stocking on the socket can be ensured. Fabricating an individual
thigh part with a functional cosmesis for the user is generally recommended in many cases (note
the 647G1294 additional documentation).
The sheath improves the sliding capability of the functional stocking.
