Setting the listening mode
You may use the following features of the ED-301 depending on the software you play or your listening environment.
• Listening mode
• Cinema Re-EQ mode
• Midnight Theater mode
• LFE (Low Frequency Effects) mode
To set the listening mode

Press POWER.

Press INPUT-1 or INPUT-2.
Skip this step if the desired input mode is selected.
Do not press MULTI-CH INPUT or you will be unable to go on to
the next and later steps.

Press LISTENING MODE.
Each time you press this button, the listening mode shown on the
display changes.
Note:
Depending on the Dolby Digital software or playing equipment, the
program format or listening mode indication may be incorrect if
pausing, stopping or skipping of a track causes signal interruption. If
this occurs, you can restore the correct indication by replaying the
track.
Listening mode indication
When a PCM digital track or analog track is being played...
The
DOLBY
PRO LOGIC
indicator lights when the listening mode is “SURROUND”.
STEREO ........... Stereo mode
SURROUND .... Dolby Pro Logic mode
• "PHANTOM" appears if the Center speaker setting
is "NONE".
• "3 STEREO" appears if the L/R Surround speaker
setting is "NONE".
When a Dolby Digital track is being played...
The
DOLBY
DIGITAL
indicator lights. At the lower right end of the display, the
channels Dolby Digital uses are shown.
STEREO ........... Stereo mode
SURROUND .... Dolby Digital mode
• "PHANTOM" appears if the Center speaker setting
is "NONE".
• "3 STEREO" appears if the L/R Surround speaker
setting is "NONE".
If the Dolby Digital track is stereo, the
DOLBY
PRO LOGIC
indicator lights.
The following listening modes may be set depending on the channels
used by the Dolby Digital soundtrack.
MONAURAL ... "MONAURAL" appears if a monaural signal is
output to the Center channel.
DUAL ................ "DUAL" appears if a monaural signal is output to
both the Right and Left Front channels.
Note:
S
appears if a monaural signal is output to the Surround channels.
