Observation procedures
This section describes the operating procedures of the reflected light brightfield/darkfield observations which are the basis of
observation methods. The differential interference contrast observation, simple polarization observation, etc. are described in
“5 Observation methods" on page 44.
When using only the reflected light illumination while the transmitted light illumination unit is installed, set
the aperture diaphragm on the front of the base of microscope frame to the minimum position or insert the
anti-reflection shutter.
NOTE
BF: The aperture diaphragm is set per each objective automatically.
DF: The aperture diaphragm is set to the OPEN position automatically.

[Trinocular tube only]
Push in the light path selection knob.
3
Remove the analyzer, mirror unit, etc.
from the light path.
4
Turn ON the main switch.
1
Select BF (reflected light brightfield) or DF (reflected
light darkfield) according to observation purposes.
2
Place a sample for observation on the stage.
5
Engage the 5X or 10X objective in the light path
using the objective selection button and
bring the sample into focus.
6
Engage the objective with the magnification to be
used in the light path and bring the sample into focus.
