8.3 Cleaning
CAUTION
• Clean the scope immediately after withdrawing the scope. If you leave it uncleaned, the
equipment may be stained or corroded.
• Do not use a hard cloth or hard brush for cleaning the scope. Otherwise, the scope may be
damaged.
•
Do not clean the equipment and the optical adapter under running water. Otherwise, the
equipment and the optical adapter may be damaged.

Use a clean, soft cloth to wipe any dirt or other foreign matter off of
the scope or base unit. Also thoroughly wipe all dirt, water, and
other foreign matter from the battery cover, interface connector,
slot cover, interior of the AC adapter cover, and the locations where
the scope unit connects to the base unit.

If a liquid such as wastewater or machine oil is attached to the
scope or base unit, first wipe it with a soft cloth or cotton, and wash
well using a neutral detergent solution and pieces of gauze. Then
wipe it with a piece of soft gauze moistened with clean water, wipe
off the moisture well and dry.

Inspect and clean the distal end of the scope and the optical
adapter according to “3.5 Inspecting the scope” (page 39) and “3.7
Inspecting the optical adapter” (page 51).
