Replacing Parts

Connect the SATA power cable connector to the SATA power connector on the HDD.
The cable connector is keyed to fit only one way.

Position the HDD assembly inside the chassis, as shown in

Using the four screws that you removed earlier, secure the HDD assembly to the chassis.

Reassemble the Fiery ES (see

Connect the external cables that you removed from the Fiery ES.

If you replaced the HDD with a new HDD, install system software (see

Verify the functionality of the Fiery ES (see

Power supply unit (AC adapter)
The power supply unit is outside the Fiery ES chassis and is attached to the mounting plate. For the detailed procedures for
removing and replacing the power supply, refer to the
VI-516/UK-115/IC-420 Installation Manual
provided separately,
Installing the field replaceable unit (FRU)
The field replaceable unit (FRU) comes with all the component for the Fiery ES except the DIMMs and HDD. When you
install the FRU, you must transfer following parts old unit to the new one.
•
DIMM
•
HDD with bracket
•
Chassis cover
•
Chassis stands and the mounting screws
After you transfer these parts to the new unit, do the following:

Verify all functionality by using the FRU dongle to enter Service Mode. (Service Mode will be activated once you
power on the new FRU with the dongle attached to a USB port. While in Service Mode,

icon will appear on the printer control panel.)
Service Mode is a temporary state that allows you to make sure that the FRU solves the problem that you are
troubleshooting. Service Mode is exited automatically when you expend the FRU dongle to transfer options to the FRU
(see
“To enter the service mode and verify the FRU”
Note:
In Service Mode, the LED display on the Fiery ES may show “
FF
” instead of “
00
”, even when the Fiery ES is
Idle. This is a limitation on Service Mode and does not indicate that the Fiery ES has error.
