Apply anti-seize to the first abutment seal stud located near the base
of the gate. Anti-seize is necessary for tightening of all stainless steel
fasteners, but will be utilized here as a marker to drill holes.

5.

Place the base of the abutment seal into position as shown in figure
16. The upstream bulb of the abutment seal should be ¼” (6mm)
downstream of the bladder bulb.

6.

Use a mallet to strike the abutment seal at the first stud location. Pull
the seal back and drill a hole in the abutment seal at the location of
the mark.

7.

Measure the distance from the inside of the abutment seal to the hole
that was just drilled. This measurement is called out as “D” in Figure
17.
