(Example) To prepare a standard 0.5 ppb solution (100mL)
1000ppm mercury standard solution for atomic absorption
Dilute 100 fold (Dilute 1.0mL of 1000ppm mercury standard solution with
0.001% L-cysteine solution so that the total amount is 100mL)
10ppm mercury standard solution (for storage)
Dilute 100 fold (Dilute 1.0mL of 10ppm mercury standard solution with
0.001% L-cysteine solution so that the total amount is 100mL)
0.1ppm mercury standard solution (for storage)
Dilute 0.5mL of 0.1ppm mercury standard solution + 0.4mL of 0.001%
L-cysteine solution with distilled water so that the total amount is 100mL
0.5ppb mercury standard solution (for instrument calibration) 100mL

A reduction reaction is inhibited if a lot of L-cysteine exists in a solution.
Please make the amount of the standard solution less than 1/10 of total
reducing sample amount.

When the standard is old, or when the standard solution is neglected at a
warm location, stability worsens. Please store in a cool place and manage
describing creation date etc.
L-cysteine solution and the prepared standard solution can be used for six months, if
stored in a cool place.
When you re-prepare a standard solution, please use as same flask as possible. When
you use new flask, please use it after acid (1+10) is washed well. When you prepare
especially a standard solution of 1 ppm or less, please do acid washing bottle and plug
well, and notice it about the contamination from the flask.
