Remove the fibre cable from the target SFP transceiver.

On the target transceiver, push the release tab to unlatch the transceiver then
pull the unit straight out of the guide cage.

If the transceiver is not defective (disposable), protect it by inserting its dust
plug. If it is defective, dispose of it properly.
