Extracting Transceivers

The extraction process varies among different SFP transceivers. Two of the
variants are illustrated in this manual. The transceiver removal process is
essentially to separate the unit from its ports via the extraction mechanism, then
pull the unit straight out of the guide cage.

Figure 26.

To extract the type of SFP transceivers shown in the picture above.

1.

 

Remove the fibre cable from the target SFP transceiver.

2.

 

On the target transceiver, rotate the bail downward and push to unlatch the
transceiver then pull the unit straight out of the guide cage.

3.

 

If the transceiver is not defective (disposable), protect it by inserting its dust
plug. If it is defective, dispose of it properly.
