PCMCIA Controller
The PCMCIA controller of the notebook is implemented on the motherboard
using the Texas Instruments PCI-1221 PC Card Controller. The notebook
supports PCMCIA double deck slots that support insertion of two Type I/II
cards at the same time; or one Type III card. The Type III card is inserted into
the bottom slot. For ZV function PC cards, you insert it into the top slot.
The TI PCI1221 is a high-performance PC Card controller with a 32-bit PCI
interface. The device supports two independent PC Card sockets compliant with
the 1995 PC Card Standard. The PCI1221 provides a rich feature set that makes
it the best choice for bridging between PCI and PC Cards in both notebook and
desktop computers. The 1995 PC Card Standard retains the 16-bit PC Card
specification defined in PCMCIA Release 2.1, and defines the new 32-bit PC
Card, CardBus, capable of full 32-bit data transfers at 33MHz. The PCI1221
