4-2 Board Layouts
This chapter provides board layouts for the boards in the PowerMate eco system. Information
includes jumper, connector, and socket identification and location for the following boards:
System board (G1AMS)
Operation board (G1AMV)
Legacy board (G1AMU)
Interface board (G1AMT).
Note
For the location of connectors on the outside of the PowerMate eco system, see
“External Features” in Chapter 1.
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage drives, boards, and other
system components. Before opening the system and handling system components, attach an
antistatic wrist strap to your wrist and to a chassis ground (any unpainted metal surface on the
system) to avoid ESD damage.
Hold a board only by its edges. If you are removing a board, place it component-side up on a
grounded, static-free surface or in a static-free wrapper. If you are installing a new board, do not
remove it from its protective wrapper until you are ready to install it.
System Board
The system board (G1AMS) is located behind the system cover and system board shield in the
LCD unit (see “System Board Removal” in Chapter 3).
Except for the battery socket, jumpers, connectors and sockets are located on the side facing the
rear cover. The identification and location of jumpers, connectors, and sockets on the system
board are shown in the following figures.
