Disassembly and Reassembly 3-3
When disassembling the system, follow these general rules.
Turn off the system and disconnect the AC power adapter and AC power cord from the
power source and the system.
Disconnect all peripherals before disassembling the system.
Do not disassemble parts other than those specified in the procedure.
All screws are Phillips-head, unless otherwise specified.
Observe each cable connector before attempting to unplug it. Some connectors have a
special retainer holding them in place.
Use care in disconnecting and connecting cables to prevent breakage. Do not pull on the
cable; pull only on the connector.
Wherever possible, label any cable connector before removing it. Note where the connector
goes and in what position it was installed.
Note
On completion of any reassembly, perform a power-on test. If a fault occurs, verify that
the reassembly was performed correctly.
Optical Drive Removal
Remove the optical drive as follows.
1.
Close all applications, shut down the operating system, and turn off system power.
2.
At the rear of the PowerMate eco system base, pull the optical drive release button out from
its recessed position until it is perpendicular with the base.

Press the release button in towards the front of the system to release the optical drive from
its connector.
4.
From the front of the system, pull the drive out of the optical drive bay.
