NOTE ON HANDLING
∼
FOR PROPER OPERATION
∼
Observe the following notes for successful operation of the Device Expansion Unit. Use of
the Device Expansion Unit ignoring the notes may cause malfunctions or failures of the
chassis.
To connect a cable to or remove it from the Device Expansion Unit, first confirm that the power
of the NEC Express server is powered off and remove the power cord from the AC outlet.
To turn off the power of the Device Expansion Unit, first confirm that the access lamps of the
installed built-in devices are off.
When you have just turned off the Device Expansion Unit, wait at least 30 seconds before
turning it back on.
Turn off the power and unplug the power cord from the outlet before relocating the Device
Expansion Unit.
Clean the Device Expansion Unit on a regular basis. Regular cleaning proactively prevents
various failures of the Device Expansion Unit.
Lightning may cause a momentary voltage drop. To prevent this problem, it is recommended to
use an uninterruptible power supply.
Make sure to use optional devices supported by the Device Expansion Unit. Some
non-supported devices may be physically installed/connected but cause failures of the Device
Expansion Unit as well as malfunctions of the Device Expansion Unit.
NEC recommends you use NEC's genuine products. Some third-party products claim that they
support the Device Expansion Unit. However, repair of the chassis due to a failure or damage
resulted from use of such third-party products will be charged even in the warranty period.
