Voice Over
Get through to a co-worker busy on a handset call — without interrupting their call.
Use Voice Over to get through to a co-worker busy on a handset call. With Voice Over, your co-worker hears an alert tone
followed by your voice. They can respond to you without being heard by their original caller, and can easily switch between
you and the other caller. You can't hear the original caller and they cannot in turn hear you.
Voice Over could help a lawyer, for example, waiting for an urgent call. While on a call with another client, the lawyer ’ s
paralegal could announce the urgent call as soon as it comes in. The lawyer could then give the paralegal instructions on how
to handle the situation
— all without the original client hearing the conversation.
Using Voice Over
• The ability to receive a Voice Over is set in your extension's Off-Hook Signaling options.
To initiate a Voice Over to a busy co-worker:
1. Listen for busy/ring tone.
a) If you don ’ t hear busy ring, you cannot Voice Over.
2. Push
Voice Over
(
Vovr
) and then speak to your busy co-worker.
To respond to a Voice Over to your extension:
1. Listen for two beeps and your co-worker's voice.
2. Press and hold
MUTE
to talk to your co-worker.
3. Release
MUTE
to talk to your initial caller.
a) You can repeat this procedure as long your co-worker that initiated the Voice Over doesn ’ t hang up.
Setting Your Off-Hook Signaling Options
To set up the Off-Hook Signaling options at your keyset:
