If you are running Windows NT 4.0, load control panel, click on “Modems”, and verify that
the modem has been correctly set up on the port.

If you are running Windows NT 3.51, applications control modem initialization; therefore,
the arbiter will configure the modem. With the LanDesk Console running, right click on the
SMB Modem Transport, select Configure > Communications and then press the Modem
button. Verify that the Initialization string is correct. It should initialize the modem as
follows:

CD must follow true carrier detect state (&C1)
–
DTR must not be ignored (&D1)
–
No echo, text result codes (E0V1)
Note: Most modem factory configurations do not raise the DSR signal so the init string must
include commands to set it high. The initialization string AT&FE0V1&C1&D0&S0 normally
initializes the modem properly.
