B-10 Troubleshooting
•
UNIX servermon package is not installed or running
•
SMM agent was stop/restarted and the server icon on console needs to be refreshed.
•
SMM Proxy has failed
User Troubleshooting Procedure
•
Refresh server icon or the transport on the domain, then expand the server
•
Telnet to the server to verify that the servermon package is installed
•
Verify the UNIX SMM agent process /sbin/smmserver is running.
•
Try restarting the LANDesk process to reregister the SMM agent.
•
Try restarting the servermon process via
/etc/init.d/servermon {stop|start}
.
Services Troubleshooting Procedure

Same as above

Check the UNIX syslog /var/adm/usererr/error.mm-dd to find any servermon errors.
•
In UNIX Server Management log file, /var/ldsm/log/sm_log_mmddyy, find the entries for the
SMM Proxy process and check that it they are still running using
ps -p smm_proxy_pid
.

Check for log entries with pid field equal to the smm_proxy_pid indicating that the SMM
agent was not running, SMM agent deregistered, or the SMM proxy had a failure. For
example, the following log indicates that the servermon agent was not running:

Server Monitor (Hobbes) Agent is not present.
No SMB Out-of-band Transport Shown
Possible Causes
•
SMBTR32.DLL not installed correctly
User Troubleshooting Procedure
•
Verify the SMBTR32.DLL and SMBCON.DLL files are installed in the same directory as
LANDesk Server Monitor (C:\SMM32).
•
Verify the [Transports] section of SERVMON.INI contains the following line:
SMBTR32.DLL=WIN32
•
Verify the [Classes] section of SERVMON.INI contains the following line:
SMBCON.DLL=WIN32
