1.4 SAFETY

PRECAUTIONS

1.   Please read these installation instructions completely before beginning installation procedures. Failure to
follow them could cause a furnace malfunction resulting in serious injury and/or property damage.
2.   Contact local building or fi re offi cials or authorized authority about restrictions, installation inspection and
permit requirements in your area.  The furnace installation must comply with all local, regional, state,
provincial and national codes and regulations.
3.   An adequate supply of replacement combustion air from outside the house must be available to the fi re for
      the furnace to operate properly.
In the event of negative pressure in the home when running several appliances simultaneously caused by
an unusually tightly sealed home, Wolf Steel Ltd., is not responsible for any smoking or related problems
that may result from the lack of adequate combustion air.  It is the responsibility of the builder/contractor to
ensure that adequate combustion air has been provided for the furnace.
4.   The chimney system must always terminate outside the building.  Be sure to follow all chimney
specifi cations given in these installation instructions.
5.   NEVER leave children unattended in the vicinity of the furnace when there is a fi re burning in the unit.
6.   The unit is built for pellet and corn fuel only.  NEVER use gasoline, gasoline type lantern fuel, kerosene,
charcoal lighter fl uid, or similar liquids in this fi replace.  Keep any fl ammable liquids a safe distance from
the fi replace while it is in use.
7.   DO NOT use chimney cleaners in your unit.
8.   While servicing this furnace, always shut off any electricity to the unit.  This will prevent possible electric
shock.  Also, make sure the fi replace is completely cooled before servicing.
9.   To ensure a safe furnace system and to prevent the build up of soot and creosote, inspect and clean the
unit and chimney prior to use and periodically during the burning season.
10.   DO NOT BURN GARBAGE OR FLAMMABLE FLUIDS SUCH AS GASOLINE, NAPHTHA OR ENGINE
OIL.  Do not burn wood, etc.  Burning materials other than corn or pellet under adverse conditions may
generate carbon monoxide in the home, resulting in illness or possible death.
11.   Do not connect this unit to a chimney fl ue already serving another appliance.
12.   Comply with all minimum clearances to combustibles as shown in this manual for this appliance.
