Case Removal
11. To remove the pager case (see Figure 2) proceed as follows:
a) Remove the battery compartment door and battery as detailed in Section 2.
b) Remove the vibrate module, if fitted.
c) Holding the pager sideways, insert two fingers into the battery compartment and
push forwards. At the same time, with the other hand, press down on the side of the
case which is nearest to the empty battery compartment. Two retaining catches are
released from the side of the pager.
d) Keeping two fingers inserted in the battery compartment and pushing forward, place
the case tool into the recess in the base of the pager. The end of the case front
should spring out.
e) With two fingers in the battery compartment, pushing forward, run the case tool
along the remaining attached side of the pager. Two retaining catches are
released. Remove the front of the pager case.
NOTE: Take care not to damage the speaker wiring assembly.
PCB Separation
12. To separate the PCBs refer to Figure 3 and proceed as follows:
a) Using a 2.5mm crosspoint screwdriver, remove the crosspoint screw from the radio
board. For RPR 551IS, gently prise the radio and main board apart using the RF
board extraction tool, taking care not to damage the pins of the connecting plugs.
For RPR552IS/553IS, desolder the two parts of the aerial from the radio board and
gently lift the aerial up by approximately 0.5cm. Gently prise the radio and main
board apart, taking care not to damage the pins of the connecting plugs.
b) Using a 4mm spanner/socket, remove the spacer which secures the main board to
the pager case and carefully remove the main board.
Display Removal
13. To remove the display proceed as follows:
a) Remove the screw which holds the display assembly to the main board and unclip
the interface moulding from the display module.
b) De-solder the connecting link between the display screen and the pager 0V line.
De-solder or cut the flexible connector between the display and the main board.
