Low Battery Condition
45. The low battery indication is triggered when the battery voltage drops below a
predetermined level, nominally 1.25V. Visual and audible warnings are given.
46. When the pager is switched on it produces a buzz if the battery is low. The visual
warning depends upon which display option has been selected. If the Time-of-Day
option is disabled then `
low battery ' is shown on the display. In quiescent mode if
Time-of-Day is enabled then the shortened form ` bat ' appears to the right of the time
indication. In status interrogation ` low battery ' is shown in full. The pager is still
capable of responding to an alert but a buzz pattern is generated instead of a beep
pattern. Replace the battery as soon as possible.
Battery Replacement
WARNING
47. Ensure that the pager is switched off. Proceed as follows:
a) Press the recessed battery door catch (refer to Figure 4) with a pencil or other
pointed object in order to release it.
b) Holding the pager in the left hand slide the battery door off. Remove and replace
the battery ensuring that the correct polarity is observed.
c) Slide the battery door back onto the pager into the correct position. Check that the
battery door catch has engaged by trying to slide the battery door off. If it does not
move then the pager is ready for use.
