Figure 4: System/Time Codeword (Batch Position 1)
System/Time Codeword
16.
The System/Time codeword is the second codeword in the batch (Position 1). Its
purpose is to identify the system (0 - 3) and broadcast the Time-of-Day signal (see
Figure 4).
17.
Midnight is always transmitted as 24:00:00 to avoid the possibility of an all-zeroes
codeword. The time signal then reverts to 00:00:01, 00:00:02, etc. This does not
preclude the programming of paging receivers to display midnight as 00:00:00, if
required.
18.
Time-of-Day information is taken from the internal Access 3000 system clock. On
other systems where Time-of-Day is not available to the encoder, the time is always
sent as midday (12:00:00).
19.
After attaining word synchronisation, the paging receiver reads the System/Time
codeword. If the transmission is for another system, the paging receiver is able to
shutdown until the next System/Time codeword arrives one second later, thus
providing further battery economy.
Dateword
20.
The Dateword is the third codeword of the batch (Position 2) and carries date
information. The first bit is always `0'.
21.
In Access 3000 and other systems where date information is not available to the
encoder, the date is sent as 1st January (19)90. The date is not implemented on the
RPR 550IS Series pagers.
22.
The Dateword may be replaced once a minute by an In-Range codeword.
