Chapter 3
The tape drive can be damaged by incorrect insertion or
removal of cartridges, so always observe the following
procedures:
Inserting a cartridge
1.
Remove the cartridge from its plastic holder.
2.
Hold the cartridge so that the metal plate faces
downwards, as shown below. Slide the cartridge into
the drive slot until you feel a slight resistance.

Carefully push the cartridge in a bit further until it
engages with the drive mechanism.
Removing a cartridge
1.
Do not attempt to remove a cartridge while it is being
accessed by the computer (the drive’s activity
indicator must be unlit).
2.
Grasp the cartridge between thumb and forefinger
and pull it carefully out of the drive slot.
3.
Return the cartridge to its plastic holder. This protects
the cartridge and prevents dust from collecting on the
surface of the tape.
