Problem
Possible cause
Remedy
Tea, coffee, or lipstick
stains have not been re-
moved.
The selected wash tem-
perature was too low.
Select a program with a
higher wash temperature.
Old or non-chlorinated
detergent was used.
Use fresh detergent con-
taining chlorine.
Plastic items are discol-
ored.
Natural dyes from carrots,
tomatoes or ketchup may
be the cause. The amount
or type of detergent used
was not sufficient to deal
with these dyes.
Use an adequate amount
of detergent containing
chlorine. See “Adding de-
tergent”.
White residue is visible
on cutlery and dishes,
and clouding is evident
on glasses; the residue
can be wiped off.
Not enough rinse aid was
dispensed.
See “Adding rinse aid” to
increase the dosage.
There is no salt in the res-
ervoir.
The “Salt - PC” indicator
is lit. See “Filling the salt
reservoir”.
The water softener is set
too low.
Adjust to a higher setting;
see “Before using the first
time”.
The salt reservoir cap is
not screwed on properly.
Screw the cap on firmly.
Phosphate-free detergent
was used.
Try a detergent contain-
ing phosphates.
The dishes are not dry
or there is streaking on
glasses and cutlery
Not enough rinse aid was
dispensed or the rinse aid
reservoir is empty.
Increase the dosage or
add rinse aid; see
“Adding rinse aid”.
The dishes were un-
loaded too soon.
Allow dishes to cool be-
fore unloading them; see
“Unloading the dishes”.
Glasses are dull and
discolored and the film
can not be wiped off.
Glasses are not dish-
washer safe.
This is permanent and
cannot be reversed.
Always use dishwasher
safe glasses.
