If some sample clings to the inside of the sample tube above the last 3 in.
(7.5 cm) of the tube, remove it using a pipe cleaner or lint-free wipe.

Replace the rubber stopper.
10. Weigh the sample tube set containing the sample and record the weight as
sample plus sample tube weight before degas.
The weight recorded at this step is the weight prior to degassing. Degass-
ing will reduce the weight. The difference between the before degas and
after degas weights may be useful when determining the effectiveness of
degassing or how much contaminant is contained in fresh sample.
