Creating Sample Information Files
Sample information files include the information required by the SmartPrep to
perform degas operations. The files are comprised of two components:
•
Sample identification information
•
Degas conditions
Whether you choose to create sample information files in advance or at the time
of a degas operation, you must enter a sample information file for each degas op-
eration.
If you are using the SmartPrep program as an embedded program in another ap-
plication, sample identification and degas conditions can be entered in that appli-
cation’s sample information file.
A sample information file may be created in one of two formats:
•
Basic. This format presents a single window from which you select sam-
ple information files and predefined degas conditions files.
•
Advanced. This format enables you to enter or edit sample information
and degas conditions files.
If you wish, you may also specify default values for sample information files.
Refer to Sample Defaults in Chapter 3 for instructions on entering sample infor-
mation file defaults.
Basic Format
The Basic format enables you to create a sample information file using prede-
fined degas conditions (refer to Degas Conditions in Chapter 3 for instructions
on creating degas conditions files).
